Of all the times to face food insecurity, the holidays are the worst. Here’s a way you can help someone who’s struggling, talk to kids about poverty, and maybe even hold a cookie-baking party while you’re at it!
Here’s the deal:
1) Bake Christmas cookies — fancy, simple, with sprinkles or without — and package them four to a ziplock bag. Decorations are great, but please avoid nuts, since some people have allergies.
2) Bring your cookies to St. Frances Cabrini Shrine any day between Tuesday, December 12 and Thursday, December 14. We are open from 10am to 5pm.
3) We will bring the cookies over to the Cabrini Immigrant Services of NYC Food Pantry to be included in the last food distribution before Christmas. We hope that every bag of fresh vegetables and food staples will contain a bit of fresh-baked love!
